Susan Easton Named Product & Marketing Director for New York Fashion Innovation Center
New York, NY – March 13, 2025 – The New York Fashion Innovation Center (NYFIC), a pioneering initiative supported by Governor Kathy Hochul and Empire State Development, is proud to announce the appointment of Susan Easton as its Product & Marketing Director. With a focus on revitalizing New York’s textile industry, Easton will lead efforts to promote sustainable, locally made textiles and forge collaborations across the state’s supply chain.
NYFIC was established to address the growing demand for sustainable and ethically produced textiles in both fashion and interior design. Supported by a $9 million state investment and led by a consortium of universities, farmers, manufacturers, and designers—including Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, the Fashion Institute of Technology, Hudson Valley Textile Project, Field to Fiber, SUNY Morrisville, and Made X Hudson—the initiative seeks to bridge New York’s agricultural heritage with cutting-edge design and innovation.
In her role, Easton will oversee the development of NYFIC’s marketing strategy and help build connections between fiber farmers, researchers, manufacturers, and designers. Her leadership will be key in amplifying NYFIC’s mission to create a sustainable, circular supply chain, leveraging local resources such as wool, hemp, and next-generation biomaterials.
“I am honored to join the NY Fashion Innovation Center and help realize its vision of a greener, more connected textile industry,” said Easton. “This initiative will not only produce beautiful, sustainable products but also strengthen New York’s economy by supporting local communities and advancing innovation in textiles.”
Easton brings over two decades of experience in sustainable product development and marketing communications. As the founder of FROM THE ROAD, a luxury textile brand, she collaborated with artisans worldwide to preserve traditional techniques and create equitable supply chains. She has also worked with nonprofits and purpose-driven brands, helping to tell impactful stories and foster deeper community engagement.
“Susan’s expertise with sustainable materials and grassroots marketing is exactly what NYFIC needs to drive its mission forward,” said Ken Simons, Director, NYFIC. “Her strategic approach will connect key players across the industry, propelling New York’s textiles and materials toward their economic and creative potential.”
NYFIC’s mission is to strengthen New York’s textile industry by fostering local material development, reducing environmental impact, and promoting innovation in textiles for fashion and interior design. Through collaboration with farmers, researchers, manufacturers, and designers, the initiative catalyzes a sustainable and circular supply chain that champions New York’s agricultural and creative heritage.
