The program funds New York-based businesses, organizations, and individuals working to advance and scale sustainable textile development for fashion and interiors. This opportunity is part of a biannual grant program, awarding through 2027, that supports New York materials and industry. View first round of grant awardees.
GRANT AREAS OF FOCUS
NYFIC awards grants that advance New York-based innovation in four key areas:
Sustainable Fiber Cultivation and Processing for Textile Development
Next-Generation Biomaterials and Manufacturing
Textile Supply Chain and Infrastructure Development
Sustainable Textile Applications for Fashion and Interiors
Possible projects include, but are not limited to: new fashion or home decor products made with New York-raised wool, hemp, flax, or other natural fibers; addressing related supply chain and manufacturing issues; and the development of New York-grown or made feedstocks for bio-manufactured textile fibers.
Please note: Basic science research will not be funded.

Grant Amount: Up to $10,000 per recipient
Upcoming Application Period: Sept 15, 2025–October 31, 2025
In addition to funding, grant recipients will join a collaborative cohort of innovators with access to relevant mentorship, testing and manufacturing equipment, facilities, and other resources to advance their projects.
ELIGIBILTY
NYFIC accepts applications from New York-based businesses, organizations, and individuals (including, but not limited to, farmers, researchers, manufacturers, designers, brands, and retailers).
Participation is welcomed from all eligible applicants including military veterans, women, LGBTQIA+, people with disabilities, and those from diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds.
Collaborative applications are allowed; however, the maximum award per project is $10,000.
